Journalists & PR PROS: ALLIES OR ENEMIES

Today, media and press are a big deal. You must be careful about what you say and how you say it, especially if you're famous or a person of interest in a certain situation. On one side of things you have someone who may be asking you specific questions and trying to put a story out and on the other side you have people in your ear telling you what to say. What side would you take? I personally would take the side of the journalist. I feel it's their job to ask the questions & release stories that a person may or may not be comfortable with. It's not always to be "messy" for a lack of better words but it's simply them doing their job. They wouldn't be journalists if they didn't. I feel Journalists and PR PROS are more so enemies than allies. I feel journalists sometimes releases false accusations looking for almost anything to put out there just to have a story. Sometimes they don't care who they could be hurting amid it all. I also feel it's a lack of communication between the journalist and the public relations professional. I feel stories are sometimes mixed up and a journalist should go straight to the source. Journalists sometimes leaves the PR PROS to clean up a lot of rumors and not so pleasant things that are said. I also feel PR PROS put out stories to make themselves or their clients look good. Do they really mean what is being said ? Maybe or maybe not. A lot of times it's a cover up. They do or say what's going to keep them from losing out on money, endorsements, and more. Sometimes when statements are released from PR PROS it's no coming back. People already have their minds made up and don't believe what is being said anyway. Everyone has different view points because I found in an article that some journalists turn into great PR PROS.
